I may have mentioned dunemap before. A tiny little project among billions for me. I set up Trac for it this morning, so now I’ll get happy little lists describing exactly what comes next. We stopped using Trac at work for anything other than visually seeing what changes were made with subversion, and replaced it with Jira. This thing is pretty well scalable and is insanely configurable for users and admins. I didn’t really want to spend the time to figure out how it works so I didn’t even bother. emerge www-apps/trac and a couple of minor tweaks to apache’s config and I was up and running. The apache config changes were mostly just copying what I already had for subversion.

I installed the Enemy Territory – QUAKE Wars Demo and I must say, it’s far more fun than I had previously anticipated. The first time I installed it, I selected “no” when prompted to install some other software with it. Sadly, this turned out to be Punkbuster which is required on most public servers. I had to uninstall the entire game, then install it again. This time I selected yes, but near the end of the install I was presented with this fun little message about three times:

This had zero effect on the success of the installation, however. I just thought it was funny to present this error to the end user. I giggled. It’s a demo though, so I suppose I’ll let it slide. I recommend checking this out if you get a chance, it’s a lot of fun.

Perhaps I’ve missed a lot of regularly scheduled programs on television in recent years or just have not been paying enough attention. Has it always been the way of things to take a week off during the Season? Has it always been the way of things to take a “break” during the Season nearly as long as the off-season? I’m particularly interested in cable networks like Showtime and HBO waiting a year between seasons; case in point being Weeds. I can barely keep interest that long.

There are very few television shows I watch at this point, but when “American Idol” causes one of them to be skipped that week, I take a particular offense. And don’t get me started with that Ryan Asshat. When Rome from HBO gets skipped, I have to wonder who died at HBO for them to honor him with a poor schedule. If I see Battlestar Galactica trying this “we’re not airing this week” thing, I’m flying up to Canada where it’s filmed to “correct the situation”
